Romenca

Romenca, the first music project of Oana Cătălina Chițu, was a maelstrom of emotion and Balkan music which finally materialized into an album, Verka, as well as countless tours through Western Europe.

Romenca spread its wings from the Siberia of bass player Alexander Franz to the Greece of drum player Dimitris Christidis, from the European Russia of guitar player Alexej Wagner to the Bulgaria of saxophone player Vladimir Karparov, from Oana’s Romania to the Serbia of accordionist Dejan Jovanovic.

In this formula, that untamed fascinating East thus produced a music that was exotic to Westerners and heart-rending to Easterners. The passion on stage was permanently accompanied by the passion backstage, by emotion and cultural and musical conflict, which would always produce a high-temperature show.
